Alan has been the right hand man to founder members of The Swinging Blue Jeans (Ray Ennis & Les Braid) since the 90’s.

Les Braid sadly passed away in 2005.

Ray Ennis announced his retirement from the group in 2010.

Alan has continued to tour successfully with the current line up since, both in the UK & abroad.

Alan started his career in Wales in the early sixties. He has toured and recorded over the years  with many named acts such as : - Marty Wilde, PJ Proby, Denny Laine, & The. New Vaudeville Band to name but a few.

He has toured extensively with The Swinging Blue Jeans and hopes to continue to do so with this chapter of The Swinging Blue Jeans history.


Bass Guitar / vocals  

Peter started his music career in 1956 with The Spacemen Skiffle Group. In 1957 guitarist Joe Brown joined the group, which by 1959 became Joe Brown and The Bruvvers.

During the early sixties Joe Brown and The Bruvvers had a string of hits, including the No.1 hit A Picture of You, written by Peter Oakman, which topped the charts in the summer of 1962.

At the end of 1963, Peter received a phone call from Skiffle Legend Lonnie Donegan. Peter continued to play bass with Lonnie on and off for forty years.

In 1972, through his friend and promoter Roger Greenaway, Peter had a Top Twenty hit with the Gary US Bonds song New Orleans.

In 2004, Peter received a call from his friend Alan Lovell of The Swinging Blue Jeans, explaining the illness of their Bass Player & founder member Les Braid. Since then, Peter has continued to tour with the Swinging Blue Jeans

Over the years Peter has played bass with:- Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty, Danny and the Juniors, plus many, many more.He has also toured with The Beatles.



At the age of 17 after playing in several northern groups, Graham landed a job with American singer Solomon King of She Wears My ring fame From there Graham soon got booked  on major tours all around the world playing for the likes of: - The Supremes, The Drifters, Martha Reeves, Harold Melvin, Cliff Richard and Billy Paul (Me & Mrs Jones)

He has also toured extensively for 15 years, playing drums with Rock ‘n’ Roll Legend Chuck Berry,

Graham has played with the Swinging Blue Jeans in the past, Alan Lovell & Graham have played together live & on sessions for many years,

Graham has been a permanent member of The swinging Blue Jeans since 2010.


Keyboards / Guitar / Backing Vocals

Jeff Bannister began his professional career in the mid sixties as lead vocalist/keyboard player with The John Barry Seven. Major tours followed in UK & Europe with Brenda Lee, Billy Fury and Marty Wilde. The nucleus of this band later became The Alan Bown Set and Jeff was a significant member throughout its duration. The line up also featured Jess Roden until he was later replaced by Robert Palmer. After The Alan Bown set, sax player John Anthony Helliwell went on to join Supertramp.

Over the years Jeff has recorded and / or toured with numerous bands and artists including The O Band, The Jack Green Band (tour of USA), Gerry Rafferty, Charlie Dore, Joan Jett and Rick Lee.

More recently as a member of the band Rockin’ Horse, Jeff completed four extensive UK tours with The Solid Gold Rock ‘n’ Roll Show, which starred Marty Wilde, Joe Brown, Eden Kane, John Leyton, Freddy Cannon, Craig Douglas and The Vernons.

Jeff joined The Swinging Blue Jeans early  in  2010 following Ray Ennis’ retirement.
